Olympus Tough Stylus 6000 Review
A Stylish, Well Designed, Take Anywhere Camera
The Olympus Tough Stylus 6010 is only available in Europe; with a US version expected soon. US buyers should consider the Olympus Tough Stylus 6000. The main difference is an incremental upgrade from a 10MP to a 12MP sensor. The Tough Stylus 6010 is compact, sturdy and can be taken almost anywhere. Its rugged nature means that it can also double up as a tough waterproof kids camera. It is suitable to use practically anywhere from home to the playground, at the beach, skiing or rolling in the mud. It is also stylish and comes in cool colors; tough cameras don't need to look like big, bulky bricks. The Olympus Tough Stylus 6010's main competitors would be the waterproof Pentax digital camera Optio W80, Panasonic digital Waterproof Lumix TS1 / FT1, the Canon waterproof D10 and its even tougher stable mate, the Olympus Tough Stylus 8000. |

Pros, Cons and "In a Nutshell"
Pros: Overall image quality is good. Solid build quality, useful tap controls and good outdoor performance. Lens within body means it won't be damaged if dropped, or scratched if put into bag without remembering to turn camera off. This camera is tough and practical for just about any sports activity and outdoor use. Cons: Not as waterproof or shockproof as the Olympus Tough Stylus 8000. Poor low light focusing and an underpowered flash. In a Nutshell: The Olympus Tough Stylus 6010 is a true robust point and shoot camera. It's easy to use, has a reasonable performance and picture quality, and durable enough to double act as a tough waterproof kids camera. Why get an ordinary 12MP compact when you can pay a little extra and get one that can survive almost anything you throw at it? |
